What does “will be considered for admission” mean?
I would like to apply to University of Michigan after a couple of years in community college. When I was reading some information regarding this subject, I saw a line that students that transfer from a particular community college will be “considered for admission”. How is this any different from someone who transfers from elsewhere?
Thanks!

It means that the community college (CC) is affiliated or has an articulation agreement with the University of Michigan (UM). This also means that courses that you take from the CC will most likely transfer to UM. I’m sure all students are considered for admission, however because of this agreement between the schools, the transition from the CC to UM should be a smooth process.
To ensure you are taking courses that will transfer to the degree program at UM, talk to an adviser at the CC. They will be able to help you choose the right courses you need to transfer to UM. Also, because the schools have an agreement, I’m sure when their (CC) curriculum was designed, they took into consideration the degree requirements at UM to ensure that what you take at CC meets the general education requirements at UM.
I work at a state university that is part of a system with 10 campuses. Students that graduate with an AA degree from one of the community colleges within the system, are guaranteed admission to the state university. Keep in mind that not all students are admitted into every degree program of their choice but they meet the general admission requirements for the university. Some degree programs are more competitive and there are limits to the amount of students they can admit each semester. However, students that graduate from a CC within the system, are given preferential admission. This might be similar to the University of Michigan and Washtenaw Community College .
Best wishes!
